  • 150g lean beef rump steak or stir-fry strips

For the Sauce

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-salt soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ teaspoon cornflour

Optional Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Sliced spring onion
  • Chilli flakes

How To Make It

  1. Cook the brown rice according to packet instructions if not already prepared.
  2. In a small bowl, combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, water and cornflour. Stir until smooth.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the broccoli and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently. Add a tablespoon of water if needed to help it soften slightly.
  5. Remove broccoli and set aside.
  6. Add the beef to the hot pan in a single layer.
  7. Cook for 2–3 minutes on the first side without moving it.
  8. Stir and continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. For safety, ensure no pink remains if using stir-fry strips.
  9. Return the broccoli to the pan.
  10. Pour over the sauce and stir continuously for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
  11. Serve immediately over warm brown rice.
  12. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onion if desired.
